No one on the road ahead and no one on the road behind.
Most of the day it was pretty empty. When I reached Sahagún, there was a market going on and I was able to do a bit of shopping. It took me three stops at three different shops to find the methanol I would use to sterilize my backpack and kill any potential bed bugs. that where is living in it. After finding said alcohol, I went to the pilgrim park where the drinking water fountain was and proceeded to clean the backpack in large garbage bags and let it sit in the sun for about an hour. It was very interesting watching people walk by on their way past, I didn’t recognize a single one. I guess I must be moving pretty fast.
When I finished up I was packing, a woman walked by who I knew from a few days back. She was meeting her sister in Leon who is from Jackson, Wyoming. She had several blisters on her heel so she was taking the train. She also informed me, that some of the people I walked with five or six days ago, were ahead of me via the train or taxi. That could be one of the reasons why wasn’t seeing anybody that I recognized.
Tomorrow will be a long day I have one 18 km track that will have no stops in between. I want to be as far towards Leon as possible so that I can arrive in Leon on Sunday morning. Hopefully that will also give me a chance to have a day off on Sunday and potentially take the day off on Monday as well. Leon is a city worth a day or two. Between the cathedral and the Gaudi building it should be time well spent.
Today I saw a couple of interesting buildings that were built into the ground. Because it’s a flat and very little rock or stone, the area relies upon adobe.
